And now they can be! We took to the streets to discover some of the most popular trends sneaker-heads have been obsessed with lately. Safe to say we came back totally in love with the soft, feminine and fabulous vibe that’s rising in the sneaker scene.
Millennial pink has been around and is still as hot as ever. Most recently it has made its way into Rihanna’s Fenty Puma collection, while Vans, adidas and New Balance, to name a few have released some of their best-sellers in a blush pink colour-way.
The versatile tone presents a chic alternative to the staple white sneaker.
Subtle dusty tones are extending to other colours too. Minty greens and mellow mustards have dominated on the runways and continue to do so in our walkways and street style looks. They’re perfect for spicing up a monochrome outfit with ease.
Why only wear one colour when you can wear them all? If you still aren’t convinced rainbow sneakers are having a moment, just look to Nike and Gucci for evidence.
Sneakers aren’t just reserved for running anymore. These days they can take you from day to night and have now fully infiltrated the high fashion realm. Luxe materials and textures such as velvet, corduroy and mettalics are common sights, along with jewel embellishments and bedazzled designs.
Old style ‘dad’ sneakers are back with a vengeance. The 90s silhouette has been reworked by the likes of Belenciaga, Gucci, and Kanye’s Yeezy range. Although they’re in stark contrast to soft, feminine vibes, they’ve been sported by street savvy supermodels wearing dainty dresses and floral prints.
