The 84-year-old creative director for Fendi and Chanel will be teaming up with the athletic brand – which has successful celebrity collaborations with Kylie Jenner and US rapper Big Sean – to design an exclusive 13-piece limited edition collection to celebrate the bran’ds 50th anniversary of its original Suede sneaker.
The items will include a women’s cropped T-shirt and jumpsuit based on Puma’s archive T7 tracksuit with 7-mm stripes, while the male pieces will include a slim-fit hoodie with matching sweatpants and logo T-shirts.
Karl also created two pairs of unisex suede sneakers for the prestigious collection that are inspired by his own signature tuxedo jacket, high white collar, tie and sunglasses personal style.
Other collaborations under way this season for the Karl Lagerfeld brand include a just-launched capsule with teenage model Kaia Gerber – whose mother is iconic supermodel Cindy Crawford- and a soon-to-launch hook-up with high-end French silverware brand Christofle.
The collection will be available for pre-sale at karl.com and puma.com from October 18, rolling out to Karl Lagerfeld and Puma stores as well as selected retailers worldwide the next day, according to WWD.com.
